Artists Statement
Karen A. vanBarneveld-Price
vanPrice Fine Art & Design
My work comes from 54 years of life. I'm a mother of one, stepmother of four, wife and grandmother of 13. I am grateful every day for the love I share with friends, family and life itself. Along with the beauty of my environment, there are ugly times, but they are always overshadowed by the extraordinary.
Different things inspire me at different times. Studies of African art, the Renaissance, modern art and individual artists are combined in my work. Over the past eleven years I have been fortunate in that I have been able to work alongside many world famous artists. They have all shared their knowledge and experience willingly and lovingly. Like all artists, as I continue to experience life, my esthetic reflects those experiences. From my birth in 1953 until November of 2004 I lived in different areas of California. Since moving to Prescott and setting up a new studio, I have met many new artists and look forward to sharing new ideas and getting involved in the community. I expect positive changes will occur as a natural synthesis to a new environment for my work and life with our family.
I hope you find something in my work that brings a smile to your heart.
